EDIT: If somebody has some space and bandwidth to spare, and since we all want to touch the rainbow, I have got the making of Hear'n Aid featuring Ronnie James Dio, Eric Bloom, Don Dokken, Geoff Tate, Rob Halford, Paul Shortino, Yngwie Malmsteen, KK Downing, Carlos Cavazo, et alii, available for your viewing pleasure. Yes, it's very good. Your band practices will never be the same.

dokken: not so... smooth.

Jesus. Watching copious amounts of VH1 Classic at my girlfriend's parents' house has resulted in "Holy Diver," "Rainbow in the Dark," and "Mystery" being stuck in my head, off-and-on, for months.

This guy's lyrics and delivery are so astonishingly ridiculous, I think they sail clear past CRAP and back around to NOT CRAP. Maybe.

I'll tell you, I never paid much attention to Dio aside from making fun of him, but "Holy Diver" is a spectacular and stupid song. Like mattw, I just about keeled over the first time I heard it--particularly the part where he says "look out!" Oh, dear god is that funny. And awesome. So I think I might like this "Holy Diver," even with all the fruity elf-and-wizard related nonsense, because it is so G.D. catchy. I'm not going to buy any Dio records or anything, but I'll be damned if I won't enjoy "Holy Diver" when I hear it.

I think there's something wrong with me.

There have been some great posts in this thread, by the way:

Or maybe I should say "minus 10 hit points."

NOT CRAP, surprisingly, based on my enjoyment of "Holy Diver" and the hilarious live DVD I mentioned in a previous post to this thread.
