It's not like I'm gonna rush to listen to any after that, but still..

Well, they're ok, better than this, that's for sure. Subtle are quite similar in some ways to Themselves (formerly Them). I don't know what Anticon stuff you've heard, but as a collective they're quite prolific so it can be hit and miss. For me, nothing beats the collection of 12"s that were released as the first cLOUDEAD album.

Also, you could do worse than hearing Blindfold:Greenthink, Boom Bip & Dose One:Circle and the cLOUDEAD Peel sessions.

Depending on your heart-on-sleeve-honesty/ pretensiousness threshold you may want to hear Why, Themselves: The No Music + remixes, Alias:Otherside of the Looking Glass and perhaps Sage Francis: Personal Journals if they come your way.

But don't hold it against me if you don't like 'em :)

I second Sage Francis, very good album.

But you forgot to mention Sole's Selling Live Water.

In light of the impending Led Zeppeling reunion tour, would this make Zep covers verboten?

the only good zeppelin cover i've ever heard was helmet w/ david yow doing "custard pie."

and covering zeppelin will always be in bad taste. it just shouldn't be attempted. (except when helmet and yow did it.)
buy my guitar. now with pictures!

No contest here. Please get that message accross to just about every 16-year old who picked up a guitar in the eighties/early nineties.

I would like to add that I have never learned to play a single Zep song.
