frequency response looks less than boner-worthy.
little mic for the portable DAT or MD or MP3 or wav recorder
2my roomate has that mic and uses it to record live shows to minidisc. it sounds fine for this. in fact some of the shows he has done sound really good. way better than when i used to bootleg bands on my walkman.

3It's an improvement over the 909 which was a sony stereo mic used often in the eighties for live recordings but both mics lack obtainable detail due to there frequency response. If your looking for a simple band recording mic it would do the job, but a modded Radio Shack PZM on the cheap would produce much better results.

4Actually i love those mics, they totally lack a low end, but for good rehearsal recordings i think they're great. Good price too, especially with the US/UK rates at the moment.

5Scott, as you probably know from reading my posts, I am no authority on mics. At all. I still thought it might be worth telling you that I use these mics and get results I am happy with; basic ensemble recording etc. Kinda good on acoustic guitar for some reason, as well. Absolutely no bottom end, like the dude said. Nice for spoken word stuff, IMCO.
Back off man, I'm a scientist.

6Great for location recording too.

7I own one of these and have found it enormously useful like the people above. The OK (not the cleanest or highest-fi, but solid) sound quality / output level to low weight/size/price ratio means it is well suited for the quick-let's-record, out-and-about, bish bash bosh applications that are it's intended role.
I have also used it to make dozens of 'idea' recordings straight into my laptop when I think of something, and now can listen to myself sing and mumble drunkenly in stereo rather than the hideous dictaphone I used to use.
