i say 'not crap' b/c i have laughed several times at ween songs that were constructed with the intention of being funny

...and rocked tears of joy out of me on several occasions.

hey tim, you should check out the album White Pepper if you are at all interested in hearing the more serious side of this band. Its worth a listen.

Ween is not crap because:

1. Every album is built around a conceptual core, without any of the songs alluding to the concept.

2. They write the most obscure lyrics possible.

3. The cusp of their "popular" music career, was the release of what was, undoubtedly, the worst song they could possibly release to further that career.

4. The Mollusk _Buckingham Green, The Mollusk, Johnny on the Spot

5. Chocolate and Cheese:_Voodo Lady, Baby Bitch, Buenos Tardes, Pony

6. Twelve Country Greats: Japanese Cowboy, Waving my Dick in the Wind, Mr. Richard Smoker, the fact that there are only 10 songs on the album

7. White Pepper: the whole album

8. Their show at the Vic a couple weeks ago. Unbelievably good.

Ween rocks. Not Crap
be good or be good at it....

"Twelve Country Greats" and they only put 10 songs on it! That is so GENIUS! Bwa ha ha ha hahaahahaahaaaahaahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fucking crap.

"Funny" music is just about always made by people with a shitty, obvious sense of humor. See also:

I actually do. Baby Jesus, please keep Ween and their fans away.

not crap--masters of the demented pop song. That's right--you just don't get it. And not all Ween fans huff Scotchguard

GodWeenSatan- 'Tick' 'Don't Laugh I Love You' sloppy, drunken impersonation of Bruce Springsteen on 'Old Man Thunder'

Pure Guava- The album that was immediately banned from art class in high school. Just one play of 'Mach 10 at sudden speed' was enough to have them running for the stop button.

Chocolate and Cheese- So many--'Freedom of 76' 'Baby Bitch' sounds like a really bitter Elliott Smith (RIP) 'Roses are Free' 'Buenos Tardes Amigo' 'Joppa Road'

Mollusk- 'Buckingham Green' 'Blarney Stone' '

White Pepper- 'Flutes of the Chi' 'Stay Forever' 'Bananas and Blow'

definitely not crap. everything they play is awesome, from the beautiful well crafted pop songs about love, to heavier rock, to trippy psychedelia, to stuff that is just ridiculously funny.
in the past year, they are without a doubt the one new (to me) band i've gotten really into really quickly. saw them twice live. they play with high energy for around three hours and span their entire repetoire.
i'm surprised that among everyone that has praised them so far, no one mentioned their newest album 'quebec'. it's the perfect combination of all their previous albums.
white pepper, mollusk, country greats, and choc&cheese are also excellent. definitely not crap.
