Right.

I never said we weren't total dicks.

I would, however, like to figure out if the good ole days really were good.
My wife started law school in Athens, GA recently and lives up there during the week. I love visiting her there. I wonder if I should quit my job (which pays for our house and bills), cash out my ownership in the company I work for, and move to Athens for the easy peaceful life I enjoy when I'm up there.
I also wonder if I would be miserable and regret such a decision 6 months after moving.

I appreciate the offer. I've spent years and years up there already. Prehaps we should imbibe the weekend of 11/3, though my free time tends to be spent solo wiht my wife since we see eahc other so rarely. Where do you frequent?dontfeartheringo wrote:bigc wrote:33. I would impulsively say YES! Because I love living (in a little farmhouse in the country right next to) Athens. On the other hand, there are people here who hate it, because it's a small town, it's hard to make a lot of money, etx, etx.
PM me the next time you're up and I'll take you around. There are upsides and downsides to living in Mayberry, LSD. Good bands, horrible bands, good restaurants, horrible restaurants, same as anywhere, but just less variety than you'd expect in a major city.
::added:: I should add that I never sit in traffic, never have to wait for a table at a restaurant and don't have much crime to deal with. And goddamn, there are a lot of bands here. Some of them are even really good.

I went to school from 1992 - 1996 then moved away. The peace and quiet and relative non-hassle are what I idealize when I dream of moving. My dreams do not incorporate the claustrophobia I would likely feel after eating at The Grit and drinking only at the Manhattan for my social time though.
It's just so tought to separate fantasy from reality, especially when I'm sitting in 35 minutes of traffic just to get home each day.
I gather you're familiar with the owners of the Caledonia, Maserati, Paulie form the Manhattan...all those good folks?
There's a finance job at the school of music open right now that look slike it'd pay pretty damn well for Athens. Maybe I'll brush up my resume tonight...and myabe I'll just chalk my desire up to idealism.
