I would say that the electronics look replaced too. I have never seen a tesco (and I have see a lot) that has pickups that are identical to Framus pickups and a duplication of the steel tone and volume knobs. Tescos like the one that hounddog taylor has are of a different design. Also the Tesco like in the picture of houndog taylor has lots of chrome on it as do a lot of tesco's but this guitar does not. There is a my space site for the band why don't you ask there?

something to bear in mind when listening to unwound - they used really, really, and i mean really shitty equipment. really cheap stuff that was totally held together with duct tape. the reason that it sounds good isn't cus of the gear - it's because it was unwound. back when i first started playing bass i totally had the same set up as vern, and it totally sucked...because i'm not vern. it was maybe my worst bass set up ever - sunn coliseum into a kustom tuck and roll. ugh.

as far as guitars go - justin customized the heck out of his stuff. truly a unique guitar player...but i think it's all about his playing - i never found his tone all that amazing - it just what he did w/ it that was awesome.

same goes for all that gravity related stuff. it's all incredible - but none of those guys were really concerned with tone...just heroin (the drug) and speed. heh.
so if that's the sound you want - it's time to start abusing...

Are you serious? How do you know this?

I did notice the five or so times I saw Unwound it was like watching a bipolar band. They were either energetic, great and amazing, or boring, bland, lifeless and almost nodding off while playing.

no no, you misunderstood. not unwound - but the other bands on gravity...
the substance abuse of members of antioch and clikatat are pretty well documented. sadly, the bassist of clikatat passed away due to an overdose...

I always found it ironic that the reason the band Heroin broke up is because the guy that runs Gravity (the guitarist maybe?) got addicted to heroin (the drug). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read that a while ago in a copy of Alternative Press. They had a two or three page article on Gravity records. The whole drug thing... It sucks, Clikatat Ikatowi were amazing. I mean what I can gather from their recordings. The other stuff, Champagne Kiss, Spacehorse... I find it pretty average.
