Hopefully this will be fun and a good way to get to know what kinda different sounds are out there and what unlikely instrument/amp combinations will produce them.

If possible, if anybody else wants to partake, try and post a link to an MP3 that's just guitar, or just bass, rather than something with a full band behind it making it harder to tell what's going on.

i'm pretty sure it's a squier fat strat from the early 80s, bridge pickup modded (in split). probably a 250k pot. and the signal split with a boss ce-3 chorus into a gorilla 15 watt and a peavey bandit.

it sounds like nothing i ever heard at all. sounds like neck or middle position, probably very big strings. no fucking idea if there are single coils or humbuckers, or the amp.

i might try doing some recording for this, mostly because i'm still unhappy with any mic'ed electric guitars i recorded. nice thread idea, scott.

Yes, and yes.

And it is specifically a guitar amplifier, as opposed to a bass amplifier being used for guitar, so you've just ruled out amps like the Fender Bassman or Marshall 1986 (which I've been messing around with for baritone lately).
