Ok, I have no idea how to reduce the file size of a few videos that I'd like to put on youtube. I've tried putting them on google video, which accepts bigger files, but that won't take them either.
I recorded them on the highest possible resolution on accident and wound up with files 248MB, 319MB, and 197MB. I know there is probably an easy solution here, however I don't know what it is. Please Help.
FYI: I don't want to split them up into parts.

2I don't know much about this type of thing but couldn't you use videora ipod converter? I've only used it for ipod but it reduces the size (and quality) of the video file. If that sounds like it would work, just google videora. Hope this isn't bad advice!

3As suggested elsewhere in the forum for a recent video related question, Mpeg Streamclip from http://www.squared5.com/ is a FREE application (or it was last I checked) for converting video files. It allows you to adjust output quality and resolution, which should reduce your file sizes. I use it now and again and have been very happy with it.
Download it and give it a shot. I'm not sure what your input file type is, but the app accepts most of the standard video codecs.

4Virtual Dub never fails to do the job for me. Open a video in it, choose a something divx related from video->compression list, and choose file->save as avi.

6I will second Virtual Dub, and actually go a step further and recommend Virtual Dub Mod. I edit with Adobe Premiere and Avid at work, but every so often I have to do something crazy to a video file, and Virtual Dub Mod is the way to go.
I blew someone's mind the other day when I converted their PAL DVD to NTSC with a single click in Virtual Dub Mod (ok, so I had already calculated and configured some presets so as to do this, but it was still way cool.)

7mac users: visual hub is the way to go. the ease-of-use is phenomenal. had to do some crazy ridiculous encoding and it took care of everything just wonderfully.
