Album: In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

'Aeroplane' sounds to me like obnoxious repetition of prior acts. I admitted I'm not a fan of those acts, but I'd rather listen to them than Mangum screaming about nothing for an hour.

I'd like to hear about some of these other prior acts you're referring to in respect to them being forebearers of ITAOTS. One thing that always struck me about this album was how orginal it sounds, (at least to my ears), so please to drop some knowledge on me. I like to get to the root of all things.

It's a fucking great album. "Untitled?" Fuck all the other shit, "Untitled" is one gem of a trippy anthem. Much has been written, said, and posted about this album and my ramblings won't add anything unique to the mix. Let me just echo Antero's sentiments about it. Basically, I don't take anyone seriously who can't at least appreciate the weird spectacle, sound, and aesthetic of this album. Silver Jews, Unwound, Shellac, Mercury Rev, The Ex, all released superb albums at the time of the release of ITAOTS, and I think this album fits in quite nicely with the diversity of sounds and the eclecticism of that year.

Aside from all of that, I seriously want to get schooled on who NMH is ripping-off so that I may find the originators and give them their due.

I realize this board has a lot of people who think that lyrics are nothing more than something to keep the vocalist busy. Those people probably won't like this album, and I probably won't like their albums.

Fucking hell people, listen to the words. There is nothing "innocent" or "childish" about In The Aeroplane.

are you basing that observation on how many times he talks about jizz?
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.
