granted i love kill-taker but any fan-boy of reasonable standing wants to hear a collaboration between two of his favourite artists regardless. it isn't even the songs persay - i'm interested in what fugazi's always compelling instrumentation sounded like as recorded by steve albini.
i'm probably the only person who bought that fucking horrible 'ciccone youth' album with sonic youth and mike watt for similar reasons.
it can't be worse than the production on 'steady diet....' anyway!
(oh wait....i see that you are steve albini. i thought you were just forum-joe. i'll leave the post anyway so you can all have a giggle.)

32man, i know nothing about production then!
i thought 'the argument' was very atmospheric.
'ex-spectator' is one of the best things fugazi has done imho.

34not crap. argument though, kinda sleepy, don't ya think?
saw 'em in dec. of '99 w/ the ex. best show ever. EVER. more so because the ex totally blew fugazi off the stage. and out of the water. but fugazi did try. guy fell and hurt himself on a p.a. monitor, a corner right into the back rib area. ouch.
everytime i saw them after that though? kinda boring. phoned in. too perfect. every song sounded like the album. kinda neat at first, then...kinda, "i could be at home listening to the album and not standing in this crowd of assholes. moshing assholes." still some highpoints, seeing "by you" done live was the bee's knees.

36I only have "Steady Diet of Nothing". Should I get "Repeater" or "In On The Kill Taker" next?

38They're crap. I used to play keyboards for them in 1993 and they fired me because I drank a shandy.

39I actually like the newest stuff best. The last three are my favorites.
The production on "The Argument" is pretty messy, but it suits the songs pretty well.

i have to say repeater because anytime i pass up a chance to laud this record, people come back to me angry, yelling, "why didn't you tell me sooner how great this was?!" then i feel guilty.
if you thought steady diet was almost the tits and you want to like their next record as much as possible on the first lesson, get kill taker. they're both fine choices.
that question is akin to asking, "I only have a Honda. Should I get a Mercedes or a BMW next?"
