I don't think so. MacKaye makes a pretty convincing defense of the song in the AH doc.

I always thought everyone liked one of these two bands. EVERYONE.

It's Minor Threat for me. Overall, I think they were the better band, and MT's work grabs me more.

How is a refutation of blame worse than homophobia?

I like Minor Threat a lot (especially the Out of Step record), but if there had been no Bad Brains I don´t think hardcore would have had a point in existing. The ROIR cassete and Black Dots make the whole case for the genre (which is not easy, considering about 98% of the bands in hardcore make the case against it).

Easy. Bad Brains. There was/is nothing like it. First exposure was "Let Them Eat Jellybeans", 'Pay to Cum'. Second was 'How Low Can a Punk Get?' off of "Rat Music for Rat People". Blistering. Going from that to a mellow reggae tune and back gave them dynamics that MT didn't have.

I lived in Detroit in the early 80's, had Negative Approach, so we didn't need any Minor Threat.
