gyros were one of my favorite foods until i got violent food poisoning from one. i think i am ready to get back on the horse. so where in chicago do i go for a kick ass gyro? i would like to avoid greektown, but if i must, i must.

I used to drive down to Chicago to eat at Emilio's Tapas all the time. Oakland Gyros is worth the trip.

On the other hand, maybe you don't want a gyro at all. Go to Semiramis on Kedzie and get yourself a lamb and beef kefka sandwich. it comes off one of those spit things and everything.

You can get amazing souvlaki (and probably gyro too) at Liberty Diner in Fort Wayne. I had some pretty good, nothing amazing, at the little Mexican-run gyro shop on pulaski in irving park.
