I'm in no respect a Chelsea or United fan but I have to save I admired Grant's reaction to the CL defeat. He appeared to be trying to rally the team and create unity in what must be a very disparate bunch.

The fact Kenyon was not embarrassed to go up and receive a medal says a lot about the managerial regime at Chelsea. Compare his reaction to Charlton's.

Good luck to Hull in the prem and all the teams in the other play offs.

Is this use of GAY as a noun, or was Jimmy just trying to appropriate George's Scottish accent? As in, 'I'm no' hungry, George'.

Just read this about the incredible sulk's incredible sulk on Wednesday: http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/sport/2008/ ... 15m_s.html

I'm trying to find footage of the whole scrap that got John 'Mr Penalty' Terry sent off... as I recall, he started the whole melee - not good leadership when you've got an idiot man-child like Drogba in your team. Apt that Terry should end up crying, not apt that he should be treated as some kind of 'fallen hero'. The man's a twat. Great game.

I wanted Bristol City to win yesterday, on account of I like Bristol and I'm told by Soeza types that City are the team to support. However, they were SHIT, Windass's performance / goal was excellent, and the whole story would have been spoiled had Bristol got an undeserved equaliser.

Today - not sure I'm going to get to see it, on account of having some work to do. Can't decide who i want to win either - lots of my family are Doncaster-dwelling Leeds fans so they should have an interesting day.

Last night the guy from Stars of the Lid tried to engage the Newcastle crowd on NUFC's prospects for 2008-09, to general bafflement / silence. Wrong audience, I suppose.

Indeed. Kenyon and Buck have said that this season was "just not good enough", which should lead to someone asking them if the club now have a policy of sacking their manager whenever Chelsea fail to win a trophy.

I'm pretty removed from the game, but Avram Grant has my respect.

I'm sure that he's thrilled about this.

Damn, I really wanted Brissol to win yesterday (they were my grandad's team).

Poor old Avram. Maybe he could become a Mossad agent and reveal a few secrets about the Russian mafia to the Israeli government? Or maybe there's another premiership job for him. He'd be right at home with the directorial style at Man City...

He went to bed about a decade ago, or whenever he sold his soul to the bankers and the elites.

Just never got going. It was 2006 all over again; it was 1996 all over again. Got to the final and choked. Doncaster deserve their promotion due to the quality of their football over the season, but I can't ignore the fact that were it not for a certain points deduction, Leeds would have been promoted automatically. Fair or not, it stings.

Ah, I don't know. Leeds amassed enough over the season to be promoted but I can't honestly say they were better than any of the promoted sides. Next season has to be automatic promotion; in fact next season has to be the League Championship. I am pleased that Leeds have already signed Robinson from Swansea and are planning for next season.
