Out of sheer boredom, I was thinking of taking a drive to any one of these three places. Anything worthwhile about any of 'em? Tucked-away restaurants, anything?
Never been to New Mexico, but I haven't heard anything outstanding about it.

No.
Texans wish they could get together and bend that state line to give El Paso to New Mexico the same way Illinoisans wish they could toss E. St Louis over the river to Missouri.

3Sheeeeeeiit, I might just be better off driving to San Diego. I don't wanna mess w/ California's gas prices right now though. Fuck that.

I'm 6/80ths the way to #1.

6I like Southern New Mexico.
Las Cruces has some great hole in the wall restaurants, Deming as well.
Not a lot to do in the actual towns, but there is amazing stuff all around the area. Lots of small pawnshops in the area. Depends on what you like to do outdoors or indoors. White Sands, Kilborn Hole, Pancho Villa State Park are cool.
The entire border drive from Animas to Hachita to Columbus is surreal and a great drive, especially at sunset, there are all these remote control border control blimps that look like UFOs patroling back and forth. You see people hiding under bridges, lots of military vehicles.
Hatch is tiny. It's were most of the green chile is grown.
Silver City is gorgeous.
Lordsburg is trapped in time.
El Paso is huge, but nothing you haven't seen as a border town, but Juarez is worth the visit during the day, watch out at night; one dollar Coronas, fifty cent tequila shots.
If you go, let me know what you're into, I can get you more info if you like.

Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead is pureley coincidental. Void where prohibited. Some assembly required. Subject to change without notice. Times approximate. Simulated picture. Driver does not carry cash.

New plan: make money, retire at 30, live the rest of my life in Juarez like a king!

Sedona's pretty cool. Except for all the New Age-y types and their stupid vortex. And John "Mad Dog" McCain.

10The only time I've spent in Las Cruces was mixing a band that was opening for 311 at the basketball stadium @ UNM.
I don't recommend the deli tray backstage.
