(it's time to meet your makers)
woah. this is the first thought that came to mind when I read the title of this thread. in high school I had a dubbed tape of "steady diet," and until I got the vinyl w/lyric sheet, I actually thought that the line was "it's time to meet Jamaicans." until now, I thought I was the only one. as teenagers, we'd get pretty analytical about some of their lyrics, and spent a lot of time trying to figure out where Jamaicans came into play in the context of "Latin Roots."
when we first heard "smells like teen spirit," we thought that the line "a mosquito" was "I'm a skater." we also thought that "when I was an alien" from "territorial pissings" was "when I was an idiot."
and in "knowledge" by operation ivy, we thought that "we get told to decide" was "we get drunk too damn much."
then there's a lyric in "rebel yell" by billy idol that we thought said something about getting it to go from 7-Eleven. I thought it was really funny and didn't want to spoil things by finding out what the line actually is. eventually I looked into it out of curiosity, only to find that the line really does talk about getting something (presumably sex) to go from the 7-Eleven.
