Y'know... not too long ago, Marsup was lamenting the lack of people having signature drinks, saying the world is "run by fucking dorks". And y'know? He's right, and I'm a guilty party here. For the most part, I've been content to be mostly a beer drinker most of my adult life. Now I think it's time I graduated to adult drinks, and have no idea where to begin.

Except here- I'd like to avoid anything too girly (such as amaretto sours, which I used to drink), or anything fratty (Bombs, Long Islands)...

I dunno...something tasteful.

What do you true seasoned boozehounds suggest?

whiskey ginger. i like 'em alright.

For summer I'd go Singapore Sling. Bartenders will wanna kill you but it's a fine drink. If it's too much, go Harvey Wallbanger.

I tried ordering a Harvey Wallbanger a few days ago at the Cobra lounge and they looked at me like I was nuts. Sigh, just give me a high life I guess.

If you don't know the first thing about the craft you should not be doing the job. It's a simple fucking drink.

I saw one bartender making a drink called a Dark and Stormy, which sounded kinda gay, but it was dark rum, lime, ginger beer and something else.

Anyone ever tried one of these?

I know a lot of people who drink Brandy Old-Fashioneds, at least when they are in Wisconsin.

Myself, single malt scotch, either on the rocks or with just a little water.

It kind of depends where I'm at.

Mexican restaurant, a margarita of course. With maybe a shot of good tequila on the side.

At Chinese, or, especially, Polynesian restaurants, a zombie or something similar.

But at a bar, if they have good scotch, it will be scotch if I feel like drinking liquor.

My grandfather drank Pucker apple martinis and watched a precursor to sex and the city through out the 20's and 30's

I'd suggest Barry Phipps or Mark Greenberg, but I know a lot of people are into Archer Prewitt.

For cocktails, I'd suggest trying a Negroni if it's hot out. If they actually measure the ingredients and aren't playing jock with the speed-pour, you should have yourself a really nice summer cocktail.

When it's cold out I drink:
White Russians
Weis Beer

When it's warm out I drink :
Vodka lemonade
Zombies...etc..
Weis and Pilsner Beer


Morning Drinks:
Greyhound(vodka and Grapefruit)
Mimosa

All purpose drinks:
Bacardi and Coke
Gin and Tonic

You don't want to go crazy with your drink orders because then you'll look like
