bumble wrote:Hi kids,

It's late notice, but our friend Rachel Ries is a very nice girl and she's going on tonight at the Hideout at 10:30.

Her singing to me at Game Night/Poker Night has been lovely so far, so even just for that I recommend coming by.

I bought this album on the recommendation of the Laurie's Planet of Sound staff. Good stuff!
In retrospect, I should have stepped off the stage and utter-kicked Mrs. O'Leary's cow.

I realize most of you aren't so blessed as to live in the North Central Texas area, but in case you're in town for the night:

The Coke Dares + Tre Orsi + Kaboom

Rubber Gloves
Monday, July 28th @ 9pm.

The Coke Dare are 3 guys from Magnolia Electric Company. They're hilarious and awesome. EA board dudes Ike Turner and tmidgett can attest to this.

Tre Orsi and Kaboom are two bands who are going to get their asses kicked by the Coke Dares.

My Boyfriend the Pilot/The Bureau of Nonstandards/Death Pig at Your Inner Vagabond, 07/31/2008 8PM.

July 31 at 8PM at Your Inner Vagabond in Lawrenceville: first off, I'll do a set of no-input stuff: that's right, I'm reviving Death Pig. Electrons will wrap themselves in an exoskeleton of feedback and crawl across a radiation-blasted, post-human desert. You get to listen.

Next up, it's The Bureau of Nonstandards: Circuit bender Kevin Smith and I will do a set of liberated, repurposed noisemaking toys + remixing, building on our last set at the Artworks in June. Keep your eye on Kevin's circuit-bent Furby, providing creepy, insidious vocal hooks, as well as disturbing dance moves. (If I have time, I'll contribute some...disturbing recordings of utterances from my own kids' toys.)

The surreally talented My Boyfriend the Pilot will be headlining the evening in a noisy cage-match--to! the! death!--against DJ Dizaster. (My money's on Min.) If anyone's left standing, we'll just combine forces at the end of the night, and pump the survivors full of transmissions from the outer reaches.

While you're there, you can refresh yourself with coffees, teas, and astonishing Middle Eastern desserts. Otherwise, BYOB.

Your Inner Vagabond, 4130 Butler St., Pittsburgh PA 15201. July 31, 8PM.

Hi. I don't post here a lot, but I really like this forum and read it frequently.
Anyway, I am in a power-pop band, The Lampshades (http://www.myspace.com/thelampshades), and we are going on a little mini-tour this weekend.
We are playing at a really great bar, Cal's, in Chicago on Saturday night. I know that most of you guys don't know me, but if you have nothing better to do, and you like catchy rock music a la Big Star, Dinosaur Jr., Teenage Fanclub, Superdrag, early Weezer, and Sloan, you might have a good time.
We played there once before, with a wonderful band called The Safes and had a hell of a time.

Show Details:
August 2nd, at 10:00 PM
Cal's Liquors
400 S Wells St
Chicago, IL 60607

Bands include:
World Wide Riot
The Lampshades
The Brilliants
The Blackbelts

Also, if anyone from this forum comes out, I'll pick up a beer for you (although it will probably be a cheap beer because I am poor). This offer is void if a bunch of people from this forum come out, but I highly doubt that will happen. Let's just say I would be happy to get three or four people beers on Saturday night. So that you can take me up on this, I will make sure to wear my grey t-shirt that says "The Bookstore" on it.
OK, sorry that this was long-winded, but it would just be great if someone would come out.
