i liked this band. i've enjoyed pretty much every record of theirs, even plans. gibbard has some cute clever lyrics, the band always sounds nice and they are catchy in a non-grating way. very easy to like and fun to sing along to. but they've lost the plot with this last album. it is a steaming pile. lyrics are fucking horrendous. anti, i am very anti.

I briefly listened to that new single and found it to be nearly insufferable, all the while thinking, "This is why he's not working on the second Postal Service CD? To make this crap?".

i find the "so mediocre it's offensive" thing to be one of the worst kinds of offensive. terrible. i have roommates that listen to this kind of garbage and it drives me fucking crazy. this, bright eyes, other similarly "quiet, sensitive, uber indie" shit can go to hell.
