I can't be too upset about my opening in the LoS; substitutions definitely saved my total from the shit defense I'd selected. Ashton's goals would have been helpful, although having seen the highlights now, it was a typically Ashton performance: two goals, and then in attempting to score a hat trick with a thirty yard free kick he hit the top of the stand and injured himself so badly he had to be substituted.
Leeds' collapse at home was obviously more annoying but perspective must be kept. I think John Sheridan has beating Leeds on his personal list of targets for the season. They're a good side who should be towards the playoffs this year, but those are the teams Leeds need to beat to go up. It's no good beating the worst team in the league in a competition we won't win if we're going to lose league games at home like that. Hopefully it'll serve as a reality check post-Chester and serve to redouble Leeds' concentration.
The Johnstone's Paint Trophy draw has seen Leeds paired with Bradford at Elland Road for the first time since we beat Bradford 6-1 and Stuart McCall started on all his defenders. I foresee an evening of friendly banter and brotherly bonhomie. Actually, it's likely to be carnage.
