a guy i know is going to attempt the 24 hour distance record on an outdoor track, on a bike, this weekend in northbrook, IL:

To set the 24 hour record Bryce will need to maintain nearly 23 mph for an entire day. The entire ride will be 2578 times around a 388 meter oval. No change of scenery or landscape to help pass the time.

Walsh has raced in some of the longest and most difficult events in the world such as Race Across America and Furnace Creek 508, a 509 mile race through Death Valley. Yet this is one of the most unusual and challenging adventures yet."
