Helms Alee: Buy everything you can

The LP just came in the mail today from Reckless. They did a real nice job with it. But I just found out if you order it from Robotic Empire they offer a peach colored vinyl. Anyway, it is a great record and thanks again for the recommendation.

After listening to Harkonen's Shake Harder Boy several times this weekend, I finally got around to checking out Helm's Alee. Awesome band. I really like the mix of male and female vocals.

Ben Verellen is also making amps now. I haven't seen or heard one in person, but everything I've heard only raves from those that have.

Hey, I was at that show too.

Helms Alee played. Then Harvestman (Neurosis' Steve Von Till) and then Akimbo (10th anniversary/record release show -- they played their whole new album). All bands were really great. Monotonix played next door and did some sidewalk snare drumming when we left our show.

Really liked Helms Alee. Haven't picked up the record yet, but I probably will soon. The drummer is the singer/guitarist/bassist for Tacoma's Lozen (http://www.myspace.com/11879515) who are pretty cool themselves.

I was going to mention this if somebody else didn't already.

I first ever saw Annie from Lozen playing drums in the band TnA (Trina and Annie, get it??), I thought she was a badass then, and she's been badassing it up in Lozen ever since on the stringed instruments and vocals.

However, it would be faaaantastic to see them play again.

I am very sad that I missed this show, as I literally had it my calendar for saturday night... when it was friday night.

All day saturday I was looking forward to the show when I actually missed it the night before.

FAIL!
