Angus Jung,I'm pretty sure you're not a FB dude, so this may not be on yout radar. A local record store just got your new record in (here in kalamazoo), and they love it. Here's what my buddy Sean wrote. He's in a long-running freakout group called Forget The Times. Like-minded folks, I think. At my job, people almost never ask me "Sean, what's the hot shit right now? What records have come out that I need to buy and have missed?" It's too bad they don't ask me this, because I've got some really good answers. One of them is this beautiful slab of wax right here:https://soundcloud.com/troubleinmind/sets/alto-lp3It's a new record from a Portland, OR trio called Alto! It's their third release (thus the name LP3) and came out today on Trouble In Mind Records. The band consists of a guitarist and two drummers. The music is wonderfully exploratory and draws influence from Afrobeat, Psych Rock, Stoner Metal, Noise, Krautrock and other World Music genres. LP3 is a sonic treat from start to finish and is one of the more unique records I've heard in a while. This is an essential pick for fans of Sun City Girls, Oneida, Bardo Pond or Acid Mothers Temple.

Tremendous band. Three drummers. Two tear the shit out of drumkits, one plays this weird shoulder-slung drum with horns and a neck and strings on it, blurting hardass ring-modulated gamelanesque chime sounds plus a gamut of other sick and surprising shit. Top notch!(Sorry for ghosting. Brutally tired, up from real early hours.)-r
