It might be an unusual space, or a failed power outlet, or poor wiring/fuses/breakers, or any number of other things. When you're playing a show in a one-car garage in the middle of a cemetery, being run off a single extension cord from the groundskeeping shed...well, things get weird.
No one is paying you to sit on that bed and cry.

That ought to sort the battery issue once and for all.It is interesting to talk w/ my coworkers at the guitar shop who play in 'serious' bands. They only play 'rock clubs' and bring things like guitar stands and fans to blow their hair around. They also have almost zero stories, and only play locally. They have never had issues plugging in their pedal boards.

There was a Chicago band called Cash Money (later Cash Audio) that used to fry bacon on a hotplate on stage during their set. When the set was over it was time to come get your bacon.

If you're playing the right kind of shows, you're going to have a hard time plugging shit in.Scenario A.Few weeks ago I played in a club in tijuana and all the outlets were on the ceiling. Even though I brought three power strips and an extension cord, it was a pain in the ass to get power to my pedals. Also, it's tijuana and 90% of pedal power supplies are going to have a rough time.Scenario B.There are normal outlets, they're all at the back of the stage - and the sound system is plugged into most of them.you have to bring three extension cords - the other guitar player and bass player will inevitably make a good case that they need power more than your pedals. Scenario C.The headliner did a soundcheck and is not going to be moving, or turning anything off. Scenario D.it's really dark and people are going to disconnect all of your shit with rapid-leg-motion.

Hardware stores sell heavy-duty extension cords with multiple single outlets spaced out every several feet along their length. I got one with three outlet locations, put a power strip at each one, and the whole band can run off a solitary outlet, provided it is grounded. In fact you should only play off of one outlet no matter what, as it's the only way to be sure that you're all on the same circuit which can be a life-saving precaution. If you play a show that does not have at least one grounded outlet for you then you should do an acoustic set in protest. People can get injured and killed with bad power. If you have the wherewithal to test grounds at clubs, and are comfortable with running the entire band off one outlet that can be unplugged when your drummer goes searching for that last fallen stick, by all means. And if you don't lose that extension cable because you left it plugged in for Band X after you, even better. I have a checklist for our stuff, but hey, beer.Definitely good ideas, but I still like the idea of a chargeable pedal board, especially if it doesn't cost more than $100.
