anyone use USB extension cables?

hello! I have a basement studio and am making plans to run a snake up to the first floor so I can record the piano up there. since I typically record alone, part of the snake would be a USB extension cable so that while I play piano I could have my laptop next to me and have it be connected to my MOTU converter in the basement.has anyone had any experience with USB extension cables, and if so are there any potential latency issues or other kinds of issues I should expect? I would be extending the USB cable by about 35 feet, and I can't tell if it's a terrible idea.thanks!

Should be pretty obvious if it's not working. I don't see why a longer cable would increase latency.

You can also get usb over cat 5 extenders but I've never used one to pass audio, but the work for other peripherals.This. I have some pretty long USB runs (albeit none as long as between floors), and I've had no issues. If you do run into problems, like FM japmn said, a powered USB hub should help with any connectivity issues that spring up.Please report back when you have tested a bit to let us know what you find.
