Joe Biden, Recalling ˜Civility in Senate, Invokes Two Segregationist Senators œI was in a caucus with James O. Eastland, Mr. Biden said, slipping briefly into a Southern accent, according to a pool report from the fund-raiser. œHe never called me ˜boy, he always called me ˜son. ... œI know the new New Left tells me that I m ” this is old-fashioned, he said. œWell guess what? Think of how much further back he would be now if he didn't have the name recognition he has.But aside from being too moderate for the 2019 Democratic field, and kind of "old fashioned" where social instincts are concerned, he lags behind several others in terms of having the fire in his belly. One can get by having "lower energy" in some lines of work, but given what's at stake, I think people want presidential candidates to be a little keyed-up, upfront with their policies, and eager to spring into action. Biden, by contrast, nearly always seems to be in second gear at the most.I don't find him detestable as a person, and will still vote for him if it comes to it, but I'd rather not.
