Also, during the bridge, it sounds like someone says "stainless ashtray".
i've heard that song a million times over my entire life and it never hit me that they were saying "Barbara Ann" - i always just kind of interpreted it as "Bob RaAnne" like he was some Car Dealer with a goofy television commercial that played on local channels.
Shit, I thought it was an ode to a guy named Bob who worked on the Soviet space shuttle.

Burma missed a golden opportunity to rep for sporting goods. I can imagine a commercial where they’re rattling off Memorial Day Weekend specials, and then it ends with Clint singing “My Academy!”

Here's a neat game: substitute the word "Lou" for "you" in popular songs, then think about Lou Reed as you sing them.

I Got Lou (I Feel Good)
Can't Take My Eyes Off Of Lou
How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By Lou)
Lou Won't See Me
I Want Lou Back
Lou Can't Do That
When Will I See Lou Again
We Will Rock Lou

I have a friend named Stu that this game works with as well.
Alternately, substitute the word "drugs" for "love" (All You Need Is Drugs!). Hours of fun, especially on road trips.

A friend of mine says he thought it was “Angel lives in Singapore” when he was a kid.
When I was a kid, my mom told me a centerfold was a kind of undergarment, like a slip. I think this might have even been true, even if my mom knew damn well what the song meant.
