Agreed. I have had one for a few years and am totally happy with it. Here are my tiny quibbles that don't bother me but might bother others:

- Have to manually move the belt to the other spindle if you are needing to change RPMs
- the anti-skate weight system is fussy and easy to accidentally bump off
- wall-wart power source

I think that's it. The sound is great to my ears and works exactly as I want. Very no-frills but delivers the sound which is all I need.
Minor quibbles when you consider the tradeoffs you're making in price. I actually like the anti-skate mechanism fwiw.
+1 for the Debut.

Also, you can solve problems 1 and 3 with the doo-hickey below. I have one and it works well.

And yes. Yes you should.

There's a Dark Terror bass demo vid that sounds fine by me so I'm sure the TT is similar enough with a bit of a low end boost in front of it as well.

First FM to jam Dragonaut or Into The Void or whatever bass > Tiny Terror > cab of choice gets a 10er in their paypal account... SELL ME on it before I change my mind!

Very first line on that linked page is "Notice: This product will not work with newer Pro-Ject turntables like the Debut Carbon or Debut III that feature a DC power supply."

I take that to mean it will not work on mine or any of the current production Debuts.

Again, I don't personally find manually moving the belt to be a problem because most of my listening is LPs, but at least wanted to mention it since I think most of the record players we've used growing up had these features on switches etc.

Thanks everyone for your inputs here! The Pro-jects look awesome, but changing belts and outboard gear isnt gonna fly so well with my partner (simplicity will reign here). I looked into some SL-1200 prices and a few other things and wound up picking up a 70's DD Micro Seiki of of Reverb. Seems like a well respected unit...we'll see how it works out.

Anyone have/use one of the new Fender Engine Room power supplies? Looks promising. They look a bit like Strymon might be making them for Fender. Or maybe Fender really copied them that much. Anyway, the LVL8 is really the only isolated power supply out there that I can find other than the Zuma (EXPENSIVE!) that meets the needs I've been looking for: 8 outs with at least 3 being high current draw outs, an option for at least one 12V and one 18V, IEC power cable instead of a wall wart.

Posted this in the 'small questions' thread to no avail, so giving it a go here. Just looking for a basic, low budget CPU setup for recording music via Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 into a USB port.

I use a 2007 Dell laptop to record music. The only files on it are music files and music making/recording programs. It's not connected to the internet - just a USB input from my Focusrite 2i2 interface > USB > Reaper. That laptop is now so old that I can't record without it sputtering and crashing, and the soundcard is garbage.

I need a super basic setup that was made in the last 5 or so years. Only need pretty basic memory, and 2-3 USB ports. A friend recommended a 6 GB mini-PC



Any thoughts on an affordable setup?

Do you have a monitor for the mini PC?

This is a terrible time to buy a laptop. At the beginning of the pandemic, only the high end stuff was maximum price, but now even the refurbished ones are outrageous.

I’ve traditionally gone the refurbished CAD workstation route. The issues are: it might not come with an operating system, forcing you to either obtain a Windows license or deal with Linux. RAM for them is expensive and sometimes hard to find, if you have a stick fail. They’re physically enormous. Anyway, some of these are still like $125 US. You’d still need a monitor.
