Hola Amigos. I figured I would revive this thread as I have a potentially fun winter project. I've been thinking about a pretty simple aluminum neck unit. Somewhat modular, kinda like a 'top mounted' version of the Bean 'receiver'- so the neck, pickups and bridge are all one unit, mounted into a guitar body routed to fit.
I'll start posting pics as we go along, maybe weekly. When complete I might want a couple of y'all to try it out.
My aluminum stock and some related special tools arrive today or tomorrow.
Re: A Few New Projects
5Thank you for this. I enjoyed following your thread on the old forum. You really demystified the process and inspired me to start building. I've done more than half a dozen instruments since then. This project you're currently describing is of utmost interest! Thanks, Chris.

Re: A Few New Projects
7Chris, if and when this makes the Chicago rounds, I'm happy to also throw in some honest feedback.

8Happy to check out, let me know if you want to borrow one of my EGCs or Bean as a comparison.c jury wrote: Wed Jan 05, 2022 4:07 pm Hola Amigos. Just don't make the headstock as fugly as most of the non-EGC/Bean metal necks that are getting built these days.

9well, for the first go-round it'll likely be a lot like an old Kramer, just for simplicity.tallchris wrote: Thu Jan 06, 2022 11:12 amHappy to check out, let me know if you want to borrow one of my EGCs or Bean as a comparison.c jury wrote: Wed Jan 05, 2022 4:07 pm Hola Amigos. 10Huzzah!
Have you ever had a close look at the old Wandre guitars? They had a distinctly different take on aluminum neck guitars. That guy who makes those Harvester guitars has made some amazing instruments seemingly with that design.
