I have one of these (50 watt) that i need to get rid of. Anyone that's interested should pipe up!TylerDeadPine wrote: Sun Jan 16, 2022 12:03 am Picked up a Laney Pro-Tube 100 for 400 bucks because I just can’t ever shake the sound of a cranked memory man in the effects loop of the later AORs.
It’s great - turned out to be my guitar player’s that he regretted selling. God is good.

242That is some serious, fuck-off, level eq hardware right there. I've loved their preamps for a decade + now.airloom wrote: Sun Jan 16, 2022 8:47 am Just kidding.
Had a very nice Great River maq-2nv fall into my lap yesterday.
It sounds very nice. Believe the hype.
Do you do mastering?
Re: What are you buying, What's on its way?
243Oh yeah, I got an Empirical Labs Derresser for the 500 rack.
Against my expectations, the de-essing is fine, but the high frequency limiter is magic. It seriously tamed the cymbal hash from a compressed room mic without darkening the snare hits. High pass and low pass filters sound great too.

I do a lot of recording/mixing/mastering, but I also do a lot of remote classical stuff, and this thing takes the cake in that arena.
I had an NTI and a Telefunken/ANT that i would use, but the Great River does both and it sounds incredible.
I love you.

245I really have a hard time telling this apart from my '78 JMP - for those unwilling to pipe up!Dr Tony Balls wrote: Sun Jan 16, 2022 9:21 amI have one of these (50 watt) that i need to get rid of. Re: What are you buying, What's on its way?
247I think not. Some people seem to run pairs in dual mono across a stereo track, but I'm not sure if that might get some of the weird sideways pull you can get on a stereo image that happens with a regular pair of unlinked compressors.airloom wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 6:22 amAre those linkable?losthighway wrote: Sun Jan 16, 2022 9:44 am Oh yeah, I got an Empirical Labs Derresser for the 500 rack.

248Fort Collins, Colorado? Weird. Don't see much heavy stuff around here outside of Chieftain these days.penningtron wrote: Wed Dec 22, 2021 4:01 pm hah, I met that dude years ago when he lived in Ft. 250Wretch Like Me were much more in the Descendents/ALL vein, who's members produced and released their records (and I think still have a Ft. Collins presence). I saw several shows at the Starlight way back then (turn of the millennium) and played at the Aggie theater once, but I haven't been there in ages. Wretch > Zeke > High on Fire isn't an obvious progression, but dude's a good bass player and I'm happy he ended up in a much better band.losthighway wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 10:22 amWhere do people have shows up there lately?GuyLaCroix wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 9:56 amFort Collins, Colorado?
