This is a terrible time to buy a laptop. At the beginning of the pandemic, only the high end stuff was maximum price, but now even the refurbished ones are outrageous.

I’ve traditionally gone the refurbished CAD workstation route. The issues are: it might not come with an operating system, forcing you to either obtain a Windows license or deal with Linux. RAM for them is expensive and sometimes hard to find, if you have a stick fail. They’re physically enormous. Anyway, some of these are still like $125 US. You’d still need a monitor.
I do have a monitor. Just need the guts of a basic PC setup - preferably with operating system installed. I'm not totally opposed to a rebuilt desktop - but I'd prefer it to be on the small side. Thank you!

Yeah, 3 or 4 years ago I bought a refurbished Lenovo business laptop, which has worked perfectly for my needs. That would have been my suggestion, but biscuitdough makes a really good point about laptop prices.

I've looked at those mini-PCs before but never pulled the trigger on buying one. Something just told me that I'd regret it the minute after I bought it because you need other components around it, and therefore it'd be a pain in the butt if you have to move it often. Everyone's set up is different, though, and if yours will always be static it might be okay, but being able to have all computing elements in one easily movable package is very useful for me.

It'd be mostly static in my practice space. I'd only really need to buy a keyboard for it, as I have the Foscusrite interface, a mouse, and a monitor already. I'm kinda convinced a mini-PC is the best route, since I can put it all together for under $200, but I don't know much about this sort of thing (thus the 2007 Dell).

I'm looking to upgrade my amp. Right now I have a Vox AC15 that's fine, I bought it used years ago, but I'd like to upgrade to something bigger and louder.

I play a Fender Tele Highway 1. Mostly interested in post-punk/noise rock. Willing to spend up to around $1K. Recommend me something. Is Blackstar a good brand? Someone was selling a used one of those on FB marketplace the other day.
"Whatever happened to that album?"
"I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall and it like, shattered."

Blackstar are pretty poor quality. The decent budget tube amp brand is Jet City, if you can get past the appearance.

If your AC15 is the 1x12, then a 2x12 AC30 seems the obvious upgrade. Some discontinued Mesa models like the Heartbreaker can get a similar vibe to the ACs.

A lot of people here really like the Quilter amps, but I’ve never tried one.

Maybe you get to try the old Peavey 5150 2x12" combo somewhere. Or look it up on Youtube. Might take a while before you find a video that demonstrates the sound properly (most vids are about drop-tuned metal power chord stuff where everybody has the exact same sound, which is very boring. Youtube is full of that shit... what the hell??). I used one for recording purposes a long time ago (for different music styles) and we always got a cool sound out of it.

It is quite a lively and reactive amp, so your guitar & pedals and mostly your playing style will influence the sound heavily. Probably not the first choice for noise rockers and post punkers, but I'd seriously consider that amp, because it is in fact louder and bigger than the Vox and quite versatile in its own way.

It's a crazy good amp that is quite misunderstood
