Done cross Canada tours with a 400rb at ear splitting volume, never any problem - been playing one on the reg for years. Been using 4 ohm cabs however.

the 800 definitely seems more capable of doing the job without getting warm, but I like the response of the 400 (mind you, preamps)

I guess if we were looking at making a 'do-all' power-section for a PRF solid state workhorse, we would want it to be very solid?

Also, maybe we can just get this decided on right here and now - the greyscale pattern right? https://www.mojotone.com/Mojotone-Snakeskin-Tolex-54-W

Mine were from the the second run of production - you can tell as they have an IEC cable slot - and the only repair I've ever needed to do was to swap out a couple of board-mounted jacks for panel-mounted ones.

Among many more deluxe options I've been playing baritone through FM yard barf's Acoustic 1x15 combo at practice, and it's just spanky as hell. I think it's a model 126?
If you bring your own distortion, the Acoustic 1xx series is divine.

Sounding more and more like I'm the only one. Don't know if it matters, but mine was from the first run with the attached cable. The interwebs tells me the 400 has deeper lows (sub?) than the 800. So that slight rolling off everyone does checks out.

Turns out this has been discontinued but every demo I've seen of it's successor the Orange Super Crush 100 sounds every bit as good. I suspect you could get the CR120H for a good price on used market.

Along this line...

If the "Super Block" series is good enough for the Swing/Rockabilly/Jump Blues set where they tend to be tone fussy as a "Default..." setting?

It's probably totally solid.

Have got the Orange Crush 2x12 SS combo. It was my first real piece of gear after getting back into music in 2015, when basically all I still had equipment-wise was a beat-up Strat Plus. I was just looking at the amp the other day, anticipating being able to bust it out again, once more room is available here. Put two CV-75s in it a year or so before putting it aside (when I got more into the Fender I'm now selling). Anyway, It can get LOUD. The main drawback I noticed, looking over it again, is that it lacks a line-out jack. The buffered effects loop almost makes up for this. Never used the dirt channel much (preferring pedals); I remember it being rather "dark." But with a Rangemaster type thing or EQ/boost or whatever, it would be more usable.
ZzzZzzZzzz . . .

New Novel.

eephus wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 7:50 pm I don't prefer it over my main amp or anything (old Super Reverb)...but the clean sound is very credible, and there's a certain kind of nasty top end you can get out of a SS amp with the right pedals that tube amps don't have--the tubes sorta scrub off the spikes or something. I'll use it on a record sometime, no doubt.
My Twentyfive112 seems to love a Harmonic Percolator.
eephus wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 7:50 pm The speakers in the combo versions suck, though--must replace. And the onboard distortion is no good.
I'm surprised to hear your thoughts on the stock speakers! The ones with the freq. response chart on the back of the magnets?
All mine have the stock drivers and I've found them to be exceptional.
I don't know what I was thinking of...mine has the stock drivers, and they seem fine.

I just played through it a bunch. If there were no more tubes in the world and I had to use it, it would be just fine. The Tim pedal through it is pleasing, as the Tim pedal is through most things.
