I think he'll let the band decide, and he'll be very public about that. If they are all in with a new drummer, Foo Fighters will continue. If any of them are out, he'll carry on as Dave Grohl (not Foo Fighters) and have a revolving door or collaborators, including Foo Fighters members.

Or, Dave will now do all of the drums again and let big drummers (with other commitments) who want to tour and won't want to be a permanent member.

They might also stop touring and just do one off legacy shows with Goldsmith drumming.
