Oh yeah. Early 20th century Denver was HEAVILY KKK. The history is pretty gnarly.

102Ahem, not Denver, CO voters. Not Fort Collins, or Greeley, or Boulder.
Oh yes I know. And not Chicago voters. And not Austin voters. Not Athens voters, or Atlanta or Charlotte or Birmingham or Minneapolis or New Orleans or Baltimore or St Louis voters. Not urban voters, generally. Not college-educated voters, not black voters. Not even a bare majority of voters. But a whole lot of people in a whole lot of places.
There are even MAGAs in my country.

103It should not be surprising that rural voters have more power than the rest. The slave owners with wooden teeth we all revere designed it that way.

41,000 people here in San Francisco (!) voted for trump. They’re everywhere. Though I suspect less MAGA than wealthy techno-crats who revile paying taxes. Same outcome

105First day in San Francisco, my girlfriend is looking on in horror at the uncountable numbers of homeless people accumulating in the streets like so much trash, many of them clearly with severe mental health issues. We meet a filthy lady with no teeth and a small container full of pink baby rats. "They are all God's creatures", she says. My girlfriend says to me, "do you think Obama" - then newly elected - "will fix any of this?". I say no, not a chance.
And the nearest passer-by, some old guy, comes right up close into my face and hisses at me, "somebody ought to shoot that nigger Obama", and then carries on walking.
Day one in America, here in its most liberal city, and some rando has already said to me the most racist thing I've ever heard in my fucking life.
I was there for a tech conference. Fucking horrible it was, too. I was nominated for an award and I didn't win; that's by-the-by. Hated the conference. Hated the Silicon Valley culture. Escaped. Sympathised with some old hippies who bemoaned what has happened to their city. It used to be different around here, they said. We used to have something good here.

106Yeah.. maybe a 'glass half (or less) empty' sort of view but when I see "the majority of people didn't want to overturn RvW" statistics, I still see millions of Americans who don't believe, in 20 fucking 22, that women should control their own bodies. Millions. It's goddamn depressing.

Our leaders want to perform genocide but it's more of a long game.
The Corporatist wants to maintain an indebted workforce.
The Evangelical BELIEVES they have a duty and responsibility to bring on the "End Times" they've been promised.
This is all an extremely cynical Long Con
