I won that soundtrack off the radio when I was a wee lad, and for a long, long time in my brain those songs were the original versions and the Beatles 'covered' them. Especially the Burns and Steve Martin ones, and Aerosmith's "Come Together" and...was it Maurice Gibb who did O Darling?

Oddly enough, I enjoy Stars on 45’s stupid Beatles medleys (sample one and sample two). They’re pretty perverse with that awful mechanical drumbeat, but I enjoy these medleys because (i): they chose songs like “I’ll Be Backâ€

The Beatles cover of Long Tall Sally at the Hollywood bowl is great.

My band is playing with a ska band on Saturday, The Cracked Actors (big 9-piece band, not the trendy pop-punk-ska). Although I'm not particularly fond of ska, they do a great cover of Eleanor Rigby.
