Re: C/NC: the pinch harmonic
31Before this thread started, I never knew there was a name for this technique. Now I'm out in the garage dorking out the same way I did when I first bought a wah-wah pedal when I was 16. Thanks y'all.
Liddle something extra in your pay this week.
Come to think of it, the set that Jake hits in the bridge of "Bark At The Moon" just about justify the technique all by their lonesome.
(Seriously, I am not trying to give anyone any serious grief...)M.H wrote: Sat Aug 26, 2023 2:52 am When Billy G busts them out they're kind of beautiful, but he's one of the greats.
Uh... my brain pulled out Zakk Wylde, John Christ and Tommy Victor, none of whom I really like as players. And the pinch harmonics are the least appealing aspect, it's always a bit dumb sounding IMO (except that main riff on 'Do You Wear the Mark', even I must bow down at the altar there).
I prefer an artificial harmonic ala Godflesh, Killing Joke or GoF (what Gill does on 'Paralysed' on the 4th and 5th frets is one of my favourite combination of sounds).
That said, I'm kinda certain my attitude is shaped by the fact I still can't constantly knock out a PH on cue (they sound great as accidents during intense soloing), whereas I can reliably riff w/ AH easy.
