I have DNA on my side as my 76 year old father is pretty trim as long as he keeps active, but I get a lot of mileage out of a small set of dumbbells, and a yoga mat for stretching, pushups, situps and other assorted body resistance. Have a climbing grip board for pullups.
I don't have the back/chest/shoulders from a full bar setup, but if I'm just trying to lose weight and feel some sort of killing power, this can help me shake off the holidays

62Received some mid lab results no cap.
High LDL and creatinine levels. The upcoming change in my diet I'm not concerned about, but the creatinine levels have awoken my latent hypochondria. I was reckless in my youth, and if an organ has to suffer then I can see a kidney taking a hit. Returning in a couple of weeks for more labs.

63I used to eat McDonald's enough on the fly that I downloaded their app and started to collect points. It's been at least a couple of months since I've eaten there until today. A notification came through stating that a number of points I accumulated were about to expire, so I used that as a lame excuse to have a cheat day. I can't even believe I'm using the phrase "cheat day." Anyway, I got a free Big Mac with an order of fries and bottled water. Have you ever not had a Big Mac for a while then had one on a whim? I could taste every grain of seasoning. It was delicious, but I could tell it was bad. I also immediately wanted another one, but held my ground. It was like super-crack in bovine and additives form. Pretty sure I did a little shimmy in my seat like a kid with a happy meal, but that'll be my last Mickey D's fix for a while.
Starting to see gains from over 4 weeks of no alcohol and restrictive dieting. A little surprised at how easy it has been not to have a drink. It's been a little over 3 weeks with no nicotine.

64Holy shit, you gave up booze, nicotine, and food?! Nice job!rsmurphy wrote: Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:25 pm Starting to see gains from over 4 weeks of no alcohol and restrictive dieting. A little surprised at how easy it has been not to have a drink. It's been a little over 3 weeks with no nicotine.
I'm on three weeks with no booze, plus watching what I eat and walking 2-4 miles a day, and have lost 10 pounds. Granted, I'm sure the first five are all piss and shit, but progress is being made and I'm fitting much better in my clothes.

65It was staggered! I'd been fucking with dieting for most of 2023 but committed to it when I decided to do a reset with alcohol on Dec 19 last year. I quit smoking everything at the start of the new year. Kinda feel like doing rails tho. Weird.jfv wrote: Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:31 pmHoly shit, you gave up booze, nicotine, and food?! Re: You un/healthy bastard
67Started physio on my injured ankle last week. Really interesting process of isolating all the different motions in order to see where the rehab needs to be focused. I had to do seven distinct exercises, left and right side (it's my right ankle that's injured). The first six exercises were performed identically, then I got to the seventh and couldn't perform it at all on my right side.
The good news is that I can continue my standard workouts without any change, because I'm twisting in the particular way that gives me grief. The bad news is that it really doesn't seem to have improved much since the initial swelling went down. Been a few weeks now, and I'd hate this to be the new normal because it's so easy for it to slip my mind, then before you know it an innocuous twist absolutely fucking knacks.

68After months of inactivity I made the decision to de-loaf myself and engage in rigorous exercise. Early this morning I donned workout wear (considering a headband) and took my first cardio class. I felt like Elaine Benis in a roomful of Ryan Goslings - rigid, awkward, and doofy. Before class this guy told me that I look like I should be able to get through the next hour with no problem, so I should just go ahead and grab those 5lb weights. Feeling like my ego was sufficiently massaged I grabbed 'em, but was later reminded that the muscles in my arms have recently turned to string cheese. At the end of class we had to hold a plank stance for two minutes. The teacher wasn't aware my bones had also turned to noodles, so I rested on my knees in a push-up position while everyone stunted on me with their awesome planks. She said I did great for a first-timer. I flashed her a demure smile, thanked her for her for her warmth and kindness, and then took a big shit.
A loss of 10lbs and a lithe frame by summer is all I ask. I'm taking a mix of classes with cycling and body pump for toning. It seems doable but I'm no expert. I just want to be fit and easily put a sock on without having to cross my leg at the knee.

69I'm 42, I'm very sedentary and I'm very, very overweight. I don't smoke or drink, which I guess has bought me some time so far, but I need to take better decisions. Last week I went to the doc to arrange a cardiovascular health screen - ten days from now - and once we know what's occurring over there, I'll make a plan. Got to keep processes in mind, rather than goals, I think. will report back.

If your action plan ends up involving a treadmill, plop a TV in front of it. For years, I had all kinds of motivational problems using the treadmill, but at the same time didn't have any problems sitting in front of a TV streaming YouTube or whatever. Now.. any time I have a desire to just mindlessly stream YouTube, I do it on the treadmill.
