14" re-wrapped Ludwig tom

So I have an old garage-sale find of a well-aged white marine pearl Camco Tuxedo kit that I've been planning to fix up for a long, long time. I have a gig opportunity that might make this a good fit but...the Tuxedo kits did not include a floor tom...and I kinda can't imagine playing drums w/out a floor tom. I've been searching for a 14" tom to add on for years and this is the closest thing I can find to it that would not be a start-from-scratch Keller shell. The only mod I'd have to do is add floor tom legs.

This still feels like a high price for a re-wrap...but also doing searches I have not found a better price (or even an example of a close one) for years.

I've already put in offers that were auto-rejected up to $220 and honestly the #1 reason I haven't gone higher is because I'm annoyed that the seller is doing the obscenely high > $100 shipping and I'm all in the vapors about it.

Yeeep. The friend I sold my '60s mismatched Gretschs to asked about 14" FTs for and I laughed to myself.. "you'll end up paying twice as much for that as you did the entire kit I sold you".

Are you trying to get something as close to the Camcos as possible (swap out correct hardware, similar wood and construction style, etc) or do you just want a white pearl 14" FT and call it a day? (wondering if something like a Gretsch Catalina tom will suffice)

Close-ish. If I pass on this and build from scratch, I'd probably go w/ a Keller shell, round-over bearing edges, re-rings. This Ludwig has the re-rings, not the round-over edges and IDK that I'd go to the trouble and risk of cutting new to get it closer to Camco sound/spec unless it just sounded completely wrong.

Definitely wouldn't try to get similar hardware with this Ludwig or any other tom that's already wrapped in WMP. I'd only do that if I built from scratch...and even then IDK if I'd go so far as trying to get tuxedo lugs. From a distance, the wrap is going to get you 90%of the way there visually and the expense of die-cast rims also kinda cost-prohibitive honestly.

Well that would be a deal breaker for me personally. While it's superficial and shouldn't bother me, Ludwig and Camco look way different. If you're paying over $300 anyway it sounds like you should just go custom and outfit it with close enough DW hardware.

lol dont get me started on DW hardware. They're one of the companies like Gibson and G&L that put a huge lock everything they consider proprietary/patent/whatever. They do NOT sell individual turret lugs and sued the pants off a different company for making ones that are close. I have heard (total rumor, unconfirmed) that if you need a DW lug replaced from damage or whatever, you have to send them the old one or they won't replace it. G&L did this to me when I thought I had a stripped truss rod, wanted to charge me 2x what I paid for the bass itself to replace the neck AND wanted me to send it in for them to do it.

Regardless, the Camco kit I have uses the "tuxedo" lug anyway which is very different than the roundbois.

Ah yeah.. I should've expected that, but easily found some Aliexpress knock offs in 5 seconds. But not of the tuxedo lugs, damn.
would you post or PM me that link? I do also have some turret lug camcos that need help.

I have almost no experience w/ aliexpress tho and I think that and temu are kinda dodgy, no?
