Question though: if everyone hates them, how can they be massively overrated?

I've said it before, but the Doors were seen as a hugely important band to the Stooges, Ramones, Patti Smith, influential writers like Richard Meltzer and Lester Bangs, etc. It's weird that they are now treated as a boomer staple on par with the Eagles or something.

I love The Doors, Radiohead, Bowie and The Clash (another band ripe for PRF piling-on). Damn my pedestrian tastes.

Overrated? Guns N Roses, Billy Joel, Metallica, Joacquin Phoenix, Chik Fil A, the movie 'Heat', Instagram activism, "gut health" snake oil, luxury cars, the Marvel universe, perfection.

There are these weird moments where it seems a majority of the population chimes in about how everyone is wrong about something (see "I hate IPAs", "I don't like the word moist"), not realizing that fandom is now the minority opinion.

The slave trading is disputed. Seems he ran guns once and took a loss. He was certainly an unsavory character.
