184Any and all acoustics? Heavy big ass magnet speakers are awesome. Huge cabs are great and why most of us were conceived. Giant jumbo acoustics kick butt.penningtron wrote: Wed Oct 23, 2024 4:31 pmYeah. I was going to find a smaller image, but no - you did this to yourselves

186Well sure a Guild jumbo weighs more than a parlor guitar, but compared in its own class the ones with lighter and thinner tops probably sound better. I realize there are practical reasons when you need more mass, and maybe one just likes that feel, but the sound/character probably isn't the top priority there.TylerDeadPine wrote: Wed Oct 23, 2024 5:03 pmAny and all acoustics? It applies to a lot of drum stuff too. Nobody is playing a 4000 gram ride because it's the best sounding one (unless they just have shitty taste I guess).

187Fine, maybe I'll meet you there - thin tops sound pretty good until they fall apart.penningtron wrote: Wed Oct 23, 2024 5:23 pmWell sure a Guild jumbo weighs more than a parlor guitar, but compared in its own class the ones with lighter and thinner tops probably sound better. Pick up a heavy microphone though, and it feels like it's going to sound amazing- which was my confession. Regardless of reality, heavy stuff to me FEELS like the sound is awesome. Pick up a Traynor YBA-1A and tell me you don't think it's going to sound great. Now do the same with an amp that doesn't have insane transformers. You're not going to feel like going over the ridge in the tone-war.

born to give
Re: Gear Confessions Thread
190Big cabs are *cool* but I dont know that they sound better. Also I can make a small box plexi that weighs 8lbs less than what Marshall offers and I can guarantee you they sound the same.
