He fronted the Mirrors - upping what Lou Reed and Co. did with a hefty dose of volume and power - and also co-led the Styrenes, whose quirks and left hooks predicted new wave with an uncanny accuracy. Jamie wrote dozens of mini masterpieces, never quite getting the flowers he deserved, but at least he lived to see his musical accomplishments go back in print.
