If the playing field isn't even it doesn't matter what they promise. Biden and Harris were punished for 'only' giving a child tax credit and creating green energy and infrastructure jobs, but Trump is completely let off the hook for not fixing the border 'crisis' then or replacing Obamacare with something 'bigger and better'. Guess you can't win the race to the bottom.

ok thanos. you've made your point several times. i'm starting to believe you now.
yeah sorry for wanting people who ran openly on a campaign of genocide and who in their rallies and churches called on the extermination of people like me and my family, and who are now going to use their power to accomplish those goals, to die. Guess that makes me “thanos”.
Fuck off
look i didn't ask you to leave. i know you're not going to actually carry out those threats you keep repeating in black and white. but speedie is right. not everyone will see it that way. i for one am not concerned about the feds. i'm more concerned about you. you are not helpless. you have a choice to live a healthy life. just like we all do. death is not the answer.

this may be the answer.

It just proves that most people don't pay attention. We do have inflation, but we have the lowest in the world. But, people see "inflation" and they say, "president bad".

My wife had an interesting exchange on election day and the day after with an old highschool friend who still lives in Indiana. He's clearly just an average American who barely pays attention. They had a really constructive conversation about politics. He basically said the following points:

1. He would consider Harris, but he thinks Trump would probably be better on economics and world leaders would probably take him more seriously (I would presume this is a gender bias)
2. He eventually chose Trump because he works with democrats, naming RFK as an example
3. He's willing to "take a chance" and hope for the best
4. The day after, he kind of regretted his decision, but we'll have to wait and see what happens

That right there is your average American. Honestly, you can't really blame him. I don't want to pay attention to politics, I want it benign and in the background. But being this naive is not in my nature. However, we share something in common: the realization that what we have right now isn't working.

I know this is one anecdotal experience (and I've had similar conversations with my in-laws in Indiana), but I think it's pretty true.

Hard to swallow, for sure, knowing Trump emboldens Nazis and the GOP will try to dismantle all our social safety nets and we'll basically get the exact opposite of what we need and who knows how long we'd recover from that, it might conceivably not happen in my lifetime at this point.

I hate to admit this, but now that we're here I wish Trump won in 2020. That would mean first and foremost, he'd be fucking out of our lives for once. More importantly, however, is that since incumbents around the globe are about to get or have already been smashed to bits, we might be in a better position now than we will be in four years. It's amazing to think that COVID vanquished Trump, only to have it's lingering aftermath resurrect him.

ehhh.. I haven't even ruled out that he'll try and make a 3rd term happen in 2028, just that he'll probably thankfully die by then.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say in 2 years, there's going to be a big swing in the other direction, because Trump sows too much chaos and the GOP will overreach. I can't imagine them surviving in 4 years. I guess we'll see how bad things get.

Evil never dies, but Trump could be the exception. He looks like a varnished corpse, is obese, is old as fuck, and lives off Big Macs and ketchup steak. I think the likelihood is a President Bootstraps finishing the term.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.

I’m curious if there is a new generation of electable social democrats within the Dems coming up. Or is it all centrist goblins?

Strike AOC and the Squad. There’s zero chance any of them are getting near power.
