I think any reasonable person would agree that Brian what's his name leaving scraps of a steak that cost $1000 on his plate for a waiter to whisk into the trash while his literal customers die in the streets is as good a place to begin asking questions as any.
And that, is that.

Except that subsets of Americans have historically pinned similar hopes on everyone from John Hinckley Jr. to Charles Manson (!). You just didn't have an internet then. In some ways, this is different, but in many, it's just part of a continuum.

Hinkley and Manson did not have such specific targets, and as such I disagree with the comparison. You might draw parallels to Koresh, McVeigh and Randall Weaver, but I think even that falls apart pretty quick.

I agree that in the end it is very unlikely that we see productive change from this directly. But not all societal changes have one or two precipitating causal events, and I think the march away from exploitation by resource criminals will be a series of unrelated events. This may be one of them, it may not.

Well, yes and no. Hinckley kinda sorta did. And Manson certainly had an ideological target.

But anyway, you heard the same kind of chorus about sparking change and really showing 'em re: both.

McVeigh is better comparison, yes. I mentioned him upthread a long time ago.

The most insightful thing about that Crucifucks song is that they spelled Hickley's name incorrectly.

Who said anything about pinning hopes?

Key, in bold. All I'm saying. If you're seriously disputing that, you've lost the plot.

I think you're wrong here. For American's the healthcare thing is personal, the industrial military complex definitely not.
I agree with this, but I think the elite have always taken class war more seriously than literally everyone else, if only because their entire existence depends on it. So, they’re noticing for sure.

No disputing that part at all, bud. Was more a comment on OP's first part and the conversation in general. Carry on...

Just including the emboldened bit from FM Frankie99 again, for full context.
