Astronaut Ice Cream Headache's The Beeshu Tapes 2020 Plus.

If you need a laugh--and who doesn't in these times?--this is a good place to start, assuming you're tuned to a certain demented wavelength. Astronaut Ice Cream Headache was a short-lived but memorable band I was in with my buddy Mike in the late 90s and early aughts, in the greater Milwaukee area. We made funny ditties at home and started playing shows as we were wrapping up high school, and kept playing until about 2003. Since I was/am a guitarist, the first rule was to use no guitars, so the instrumentation consisted of keyboards, loops, and hitting inanimate objects like a duct-taped bag of dog food, while howling and chanting in sarcastic voices. It's not "for everyone." We were influenced by The Frogs, DEVO, maybe Beat Happening and TMBG, but also kinda sounded like the Residents and Men's Recovery Project, who we didn't hear until later. To be clear: this is not "accomplished music," but it is pretty entertaining.

During the pandemic, I went through the trouble of making updated high-quality mix downs and transfers of our best work in 24 bits from the original master tapes. FM Goosman mastered these and they were released as downloads/streaming (available here on Bandcamp, as well as on Spotify, TIDAL, and Apple Music), but . . .

This CD is the first time these finalized versions have found there way onto physical format release. And the release includes the bonus cut "Underwater Cave Diving Stress."

Comes is a colorful digipak, and you can snag a copy HERE.

Okay!
