There should be no "see and avoid" allowed in class Bravo airspace at night, especially in DC class Bravo. Everyone, including DOD ops, should be on an IFR plan at night and under positive control of ATC.

This is very good. Chopper actually asked for separation. The passenger jet was doing what it was supposed to. The chopper was in communication with the tower, apparently on a different radio signal than the jet. Chopper is training with three NG on board.

This suggests that 'training' put the chopper in the decent path of DCA.

Plane/helicopter fatal mid-air collision has me feeling nauseous. Supposed to be on a plane in two days. Not really thinking calmly and rationally at this point.

Am supposed to fly into DCA in two months. Maybe I should take the train instead.
