Re: Rock singer-dome: Danzig vs Dio
42This place isn't a clubhouse for folks who are mainly concerned with chops and shredding. Thankfully. But in questions of technique I'd say Dio could do a decent, albeit hammy, version of something Danzig did. Danzig could not sing some of Dio's parts.numberthirty wrote: Thu Jan 30, 2025 1:02 amAttackChimp wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 4:25 pm Singing? Oh fuck, that's easy. RJD. Dude can actually sing. Brick Boy is a hack douche.
Better fromtman? Danzig. Gotta give it to him there.Y'all had better call somebody...losthighway wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 6:13 pm Dio is a better singer (love Rainbow and his Sabbath tenure). Danzig has more good records.

44Glenn could sing well in his younger days, though. "Halloween" is a tough one to belt out properly, and that was long before Autotune.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.

45He was 38 / 39 when he did this and it's a magnificent performance:Krev wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 6:25 pm Glenn could sing well in his younger days, though. "Halloween" is a tough one to belt out properly, and that was long before Autotune.
Danzig 5 is where his vocals fell off a cliff.
Re: Rock singer-dome: Danzig vs Dio
46I have a theory that Danzig sings in the same key for every song, regardless of the key of the song being played by the musicians. I do not have the time to prove it so I will just assume it is true.

47No that's Morrissey. He has like 2 or 3 intervals that he sings in every single song, in as many permutations as one can get out of 2 or 3 intervals.Barbo wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2025 10:48 pm I have a theory that Danzig sings in the same key for every song, regardless of the key of the song being played by the musicians. Re: Rock singer-dome: Danzig vs Dio
48If this were a thread about punk cred, I'd have given it to Danzig.
But in terms of talent, vocal range, expression and tonality, Dio wins hands down. No question.
In terms of songwriting, that'd be a more difficult decision.

49This is a very astute point.ChudFusk wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2025 11:02 pm No that's Morrissey. He has like 2 or 3 intervals that he sings in every single song, in as many permutations as one can get out of 2 or 3 intervals.
But what Morrissey lacks in vocal talent, he more than makes up for in maudlin self-pity.
