I've read at least one interview with Chino where he bristled at the comparison to Hum then went on to diss Matt Talbott's singing, and I'm thinking to myself, "who the fuck are you to criticize how someone sings?"

They have some pretty good songs, but most of the members sounds like complete assholes.
I'm 99% sure Chino Moreno said he was a huge Hum fan. It was an old interview I read, probably in the nineties.

Lot of people don't care about Talbott's singing, I can understand that, but for me it's perfectly fine.

I was listening to Electra2000 for the zillionth time yesterday. Never get tired of it. How could they let Diffuse out of it initiallly? It's probably the best track by any band, ever.

As a Sacramento resident* I feel like I’m honor-bound to vote NC, though beyond their big hits I’m not as familiar with them to feel I’m confident with my vote. I’ll report back when I’ve had a chance to take in White Pony and some of their other albums in full.

Release wise I’d go to bat for White Pony and Self Titled. There’s a lot of This is a Deftones Song filler throughout their career.

As I said earlier discovering that Chino is probably a grade A asshole hasn’t endeared them to me. But I do have everything on vinyl bar Adrenaline which doesn’t do it for me at all.

Again, not crap but not really relevant for the past 10 years either.

I’d rather listen to Cloakroom.

Boy howdy that is a good take down.

I bought White Pony when it came out, when I was in the 8th grade. I knew that it sucked, but for what it's worth, it sucked a little differently. It sucked like somebody who had listened to the Cure once sucks. There's a song on there with the guy from Tool and Jesus Christ it fucking sucks.

The guitarist plays so fucking stupid. Like, really stupid pork fingered stuff. Drop D, or whatever the fuck it would be on a 7 string. No personality, nothing interesting. Singer fucking sucks. The older I get the less I understand the appeal, and it already had no appeal back in 2000.

It's shocking that so many people like them!

If we have to pick a nu-metal representative, it should obviously be Korn, who are a vastly better and more idiosyncratic band.
