No, that's not the right word.

OH! I know! SOCIOPATHY!

I met this guy when I went to Autolux on Saturday night. Of course, I was the postergirl for Knob Creek that evening, so my vision (judgement) was slightly blurred.

So I met this guy, right? Single dad, custody of his 8 year old daughter (almost the exact same age as mine), not too bad looking and really nice. I'm thinkin', "What the hell?" give it a go and see if it'll work out nicely. I've actually never met another single parent anywhere in my dateable age range, with custody of their child, who happens to be male (as this is my newly discovered preference).

Is it even 2 days later yet?

Right, so he called me on Sunday to talk about going to see EVERCLEAR together perhaps, and then called me last night and talked about the 2 new green shirts he bought last week to go with his new green and gold pumas, which he really went out on a limb buying because he doesn't own anything green, you know, and so all of a sudden he just found these 2 totally "sweet" green shirts blah blah blah....some bullshit about what the shirts look like....blah blah blah

BLAH

I'm in hell.

Why are they all so vacuous, idiotic, self-indulgent/obsessed, useless and downright stupid?

It seems like it'll be a cold day in hell before I ever find someone worthwhile, get laid again, and settle down, which is really all I want in the first place.

Is that so much to ask?

So did that guy mention where he got those green shirts, and/or the pumas?

No, but really. The first time I spent any amount of time alone with my wife involved about two hours of me showing her my cassettes and telling her why I liked each one of them. I did this to keep myself from puking from nerves.

wow. one of the great things about this board was the fact that most people on here seemed really open minded. the dragon gave me some musical suggestions that i super appreciate and people are dogging me saying i’m not going to get it. thank you dragon and, capnreverb, you are a pathetic joke. nobody gives a damn about how you have to turn down. something tells me that if you were in a band gave a shit about, you’d probably have had a soundcheck. by being professional and doing one, you could’ve solved this problem ahead of time and not had the displeasure of being embarrassed and looking like a fool in front of everyone in the bar. rachael’s post ruled this whole thread from the beginning. i don’t even know what it had to do with anything but i’m really looking forward to seeing how the date goes.

The fucked up thing (and i am more than guilty of pointing out that lists are bullshit) is that there is still no discrediting an otherwise fine list here. Going batty about how it's all bullshit seems to indicate that you feel anybody with tastes like that are lying, because you couldn't deal with it, and assumed no one else actually liked it either.

But whatever. Anyway. I have the old reissues of This heat stuff, and a coulple o' years back they dropped those newer reissues and they were great, but i didn't buy em... now those goddamned things are like $150.00 on Amazon!

Again I swing a big smelly tit at you if'n you try to act better than the people that are acting beter than you, or acting like they are. or not.

decibal meters suck. There i tied it back...

Soundchecks aren't guaranteed even at nice venues with good sound. Often times there's a line check to save time, which means the band sets up, runs through the instruments really quickly and starts playing.

It's very common. We've played in tiny venues with a shitty PA and two mics and had the time of our lives, but we've also had full-on 50 minute soundchecks (the guy @ magic stick is nuts about sound) and played to no-one (still had fun, the sound was great!).

We've also played at "nice, professional" venues with just a line check and did fine. The interaction of the instruments wasn't in question by the bartender, just the level of sound.

Soundchecks aren't an indication of the quality of the band or the quality of the venue or the quality of the show.

As for the quality of herr reverb, I have met and been recorded by him and can safely say that he is Ace, and actually quite a good, professional sound captain.

...At one
time, the world record for the loudest band in the world was
held by Motorhead, at something like 125 decibels. ...you were playing just shy of Motorhead levels, in which
case, I salute you.

The decibel scale is logarithmic and the difference between 106 and 125 is much greater than it might appear at first glance. I'm surprised toomanyhelicopters didn't comment on this--isn't he some type of sound technician or some junk? Anyways the apparent difference would be about a 20% increase from 106 to 125, but in reality the difference is much greater.

I am convinced that waltermalling's entire schtick is a pretty good Tony Clifton-styled joke.

It is simply impossible for any person to be so rude, uninformed and inarticulate.

Surely it's a farce.

rude?
what about people dragging me across broken glass for a couple of the bands i like? what about people saying that there is no way i would understand the music that dragon suggested? that's rude and mean my friend. like i said, not something i would expect here. "you listen to that? man, you're fucking gay for liking them!" that's the shit you get on most other boards when you don't fit their "status quo". i came here cause this board doesn't seem to be that way. at this point i could be wrong.

uninformed?
you're probably right in that i don't play shows or have a band. but i've seen a ton of shows from arenas down to hole in the wall bars and i know that if you're playing a smaller place it's probably not the greatest idea to crank it up. because really, what does it prove? does it make you more masculine? you should have more respect for the people that are there to see you or not to see.

inarticulate?
sorry. i was typing stream of consciousness thoughts. i was angry. sorry also if some things were harsh, but i'm just sick of how self riteous some people on here can be.
