I don't think you should be upset with yourself about something you wrote about Billy Joel over 10 years ago just because he has some sort of debilitating disease now. When you wrote that, you weren't wishing death upon him or anything. It's not your fault he sucked.
My regret? Not one big regret, but a million tiny daggers. Little stupid things I've said over the years that all come back to haunt me and make me worry that the next thing that I say will be stupid.
Re: Regret
12Man I think of all the shit that I thought was funny when I Was drunk, and it cringes me to death. One time I got wasted at a friends' apartment and wrote on a bunch of their walls with a magic marker. That was bad enough, but it was a big party so at the time I thought "no one will know it's me if I write something stupid" so I scrawled some pseudo-ghettofied shit about "Eff U wanna have a baybee, no Scrubs" or some shit like that and I want to kill myself every time I think about it.jfv wrote: Sat May 24, 2025 4:11 pmMy regret? There are certainly things I regret saying or doing while drunk.
But... it's not limited to that at all. I think it hurts me more when I do something unknowingly stupid while sober.
First time I traveled to Switzerland, I was approaching my stop to get off the train. The train stopped. I just stood there, expecting the doors to open automatically. Eventually, a small, elderly woman behind me, who was clearly annoyed, stepped around me and pressed the button to open the door.
I still think about that moment a bunch. Like, not only her, but probably a bunch of people thought "what the fuck is wrong with that dude, why isn't he pressing that button to open the door so we can all get off the train?"

14I'm an older Millenial and the only people my age into The Piano Man were rich and from the Tri-State Area.
I'd rather be throwing darts.
Re: Regret
15I didn't care for Billy Cougar Springsegercamp's music 10 years ago, and I still don't. I can appreciate that a lot of people do, and I don't want anything bad to befall the artists because I dislike their music, but there's nothing intrinsically wrong with thinking an artist sucks just because something bad happened to them.

20The guy wrote "We Didn't Start the Fire" and "Uptown Girl." His music is shite, and we're all fortunate that he hasn't made an album in 30 years.
I'd rather be throwing darts.
