Matching boots would be out of control cool
Boots? Aim higher! Spandex bodysuit. Matching Segway - with flamethrowers.
Touché - a matching Segway had not occurred to me.

Big sell off continues so I hung up my dreams of a Sony C38 or Coles for a while and got a Serrano 87, which has multiple polar patterns for $600, and is supposed to hold its own next to Beesneez and vintage and modern Neumann 87 models.

I know people are down on the 87 styled mics, but I really like the Chinese Warbler mic, especially as a room mic, which is like a cardioid only sleeper made by an engineer who designs for a lot of offshore firms. It’s the only 87 model I’ve ever messed with.

I’m going to compare it to the Serrano and then see how they work as a pair. Maybe it’ll be a significant upgrade, maybe not, but the Serrano is supposed to be a great deal and its already twice as expensive as the Chinese mic, so we’ll see if its twice as good.

Thanks, I didn’t know how far the same user names at gearspace and realgearonline can be trusted but I’m down to a few Audio Technica mics for LDCs (aside from the damn Warbler) so hopefully it works out.

Sometimes there’s crazes for cheapish gear (thinking of those SX guitars and basses from decades ago) that doesn’t really hold use value pass the initial honeymoon phase.

After this weekend I was looking for an Allen & Heath breakout digital snake extension (ar84) and found an insane deal on a package that included two and was extremely undervalued. So I dropped a huge pile of money and hope to flip the individual components I don't want.

Even if I sell at fire sale prices on Reverb, I should still end up well ahead AND have the breakout boxes. I guess to make up for the pay cut I took to get out of IT, I'm a gear flipper now. Wish me luck.

Balls Trashman. Hoping this stops me frittering away hours and cash trying to find pedal substitutes for the amps I have without spring reverb. So many videos, so many disappointing and shallow digital spring sims bought. After trying JHS Spring Tank, Keeley Hooke, EHX Oceans 11, Boss GT 1, Zoom MS-50, An actual spring and the Balls stamp of quality were a combo that was impossible to resist.
