I like FNM enough in that I bought a ticket to see them a few years back, which got subsequently cancelled b/c of personal issues that Patton was having. Was bummed (Fucked Up was opening too!).

As much as I like weird music like Ween, Butthole Surfers, early Beck, etc, I've never been able to get into Mr. Bungle, and I've tried. Having said that, I would go see them if they played around here, b/c aren't they not playing anything from their major label albums? Also, Scott Ian and Dave Lombardo are in the live band.
"Whatever happened to that album?"
"I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall and it like, shattered."

The current Mr Bungle line up are playing songs of their, not Raging Bunny demo. They’ve tended to be guitar heavy ones like My Ass is on Fire.

Personally the best Bungle is the actually very low fi strange Disco Volante and the deliberately slick California. Most people know the carnival metal of the ST. Which is a long way from the next.

DV deserves a stand alone listen.

Lombardo is a monster and I’ll go to anything he plays in.

Re: The Killing Joke riff lifting

I remember reading a story that took place in the 90s. KJ were on a downtrend (broken up maybe) and Geordie was asked to play guitar on FNM's next album. He recorded some tracks in a studio, when Paul Raven decided to drop in. The two of them got drunk one night and were listening to playbacks and laughing at the music. They erased what Geordie had laid down and he went to back to Ol' Blighty. He got to keep his $50k or whatever they paid him up front.

People - myself included - have posted a few tracks for people that remember Epic and think that’s it. If you don’t like them, that’s totally fine. I can easily see why people would hate them. It’s no biggie. I hate The Smiths… but I don’t think everyone's an asshole if they like them. But I do think twice before I get to know them more.

Funny thing is that I just listened to their first album We care a lot for like the the third time in my life (and first time in over 30 years) and actually found it pretty cool in spite of the hideous keyboard tone... it's very derivative of various famous post-punk bands though; I'd say it's Moseley who sells it and makes it work... sort of. Still, crap asa whole

I heard they asked Geordie to audition for them when they were trying to replace Jim Martin; he got offered the gig and turned them down, saying "You're far too suburban for me" (paraphrasing). He was living in Detroit during the mid 90s / early 00s, raising a family.
